We are all Patrick Mac Manus: ”Goodbye, dear friends. Last wishes are for the struggle for a better life for all people and for the earth itself!” - 7 August 2011 (Sun)
RIP Patrick Mac Manus. Patrick, Irish-born author and lifetime activist, has left us Thursday night (11 Aug 2011) after a long illness at the Workman Gardens nursing home.
“I will be leaving you dear friends. Due to illness, there are not many days left to live. Last wishes are for the struggle for a better life for all people and for the earth itself. And, in my heart, for the people of Palestine!” - 6 August 2011 (Sat)
Patrick, a humanist with no supernatural beliefs in a deity, believed “We ourselves can create a better world”. His political view was simple and heroic: International solidarity with the oppressed.

Terror Strikes Mumbai Streets Again
An Indian office worker walks past graffiti done after the 2008 terror attacks in wMumbai has been hit by its largest terrorist atrocity since militants carried out a series of shooting and bomb attacks in the Indian city nearly three years ago. In the latest assault, three bombs went off almost simultaneously in market areas, killing 18 people and leaving another 131 wounded. One device was concealed under a stall at the side of the road, another was hidden beneath an umbrella near a motorbike and a third was on the roof of a bus stop. The biggest and deadliest blast was in the Opera House area, a crowded hub for diamond traders.

Of course, everybody says they’re for peace. Hitler was for peace. Everybody is for peace. The question is: what kind of peace?

Vittorio Arrigoni Kidnapping, Who Benefits? ISRAEL - Ken O’Keefe
There can be no doubt that who ever is behind the kidnapping of Vittorio Arrigoni, nobody benefits more than Israel. Israel could not ask for a greater gift, with the upcoming flotilla which they fear like nothing else, then this kidnapping and threat to murder Vittorio. Free Vittorio NOW! Free Palestine! Down with Zionism! TJP

Dear Combined Systems Inc.,
As US groups committed to justice and peace, we are writing to ask that Combined Systems Inc. cease providing CSI equipment to the Israeli government in response to the Israeli military’s ongoing and foreseeable misuse of CSI crowd control equipment to kill and maim protesters in the Occupied Palestinian Territories….
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is 62 years old today!
Celebrate by taking action: send a letter or two (or ten) on behalf of prisoners of conscience as part of Amnesty International’s Global Write-A-Thon! Sample letters are available to make it ridiculously easy for you and your friends to promote and defend human rights.
Happy Human Rights Day!
(Much like I said last year.)
