Serbs fear backlash as Ratko Mladic goes on trial Marko Gasic, founder of Serbian Information Centre, warns the trial of former Bosnian Serb army chief Ratko Mladic could lead to a return of wartime propaganda portraying Serbs as “bestial, demonic, subhuman entities”.
#Serbia #Srebrenica #media : What do you know about “Serbian War Propaganda”? This 19th century masterpiece painting by Uroš Predić, known as “Orphan Upon His Mother’s Grave”, was used as an incitement to hatred. In 1994, during the brutal siege of Srebrenica, Belgrade’s newspapers ‘Večernje Novosti’ claimed it to be one-and-a-half-year-old photo of an orphaned Serbian boy whose entire family was killed by “Muslims” (Bosniaks) around Srebrenica.

Slapovici is in the Republika Srpska region of eastern Bosnia and is a valley settlement of scattered houses reachable only by a small, dirt road. During the Bosnian Genocide (1992-95) the Bosnian Serb army, under the command of General Ratko Mladic, who is now on trial in The Hague for war crimes, destroyed the mosque, killed, raped or expelled all Bosniaks from Slapovici. Today some of Slapovici’s Bosniaks have returned, though others remain scattered in a diaspora in other parts of Bosnia as well as the United States.

Dedicated to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide and their families.
In July 1995 the Bosnian Serb army staged a brutal takeover of Srebrenica and its surrounding area and proceded to perpetrate genocide.
Bosnian Serb soliders seperated Muslim Bosniak families, forcibly expelled 25,000-30,000 people, summarily executed at least 8,372 boys, men, and elderly and dumped them into mass graves.
This song is dedicated to the memories and families of the countless thousands of victims massacred in this genocide.
